3 steps to register

New Undergrad / CAO Students

Online Registration opens Monday, 1st September @10am ( and closes 30th September).  You CANNOT register before this date

There are three easy steps you need to follow in order to register for your course.

  1. Accept your offer on CAO.ie
  2. Activate your Campus Account:
    From Sunday, 31 August and after accepting your offer, University of Galway will send Campus Account activation instructions to the email address on your application. Please ensure that this is a valid working email address.
    You must activate your Campus Account before you can register for your course.
    If you haven't received your MFA email after 2 days from your date of acceptance, please email servicedesk@universityofgalway.ie
  3. Register for your course: Immediately after activation, log in to your new University of Galway email. Here, you will find an email with instructions on how to register for your course.

1st Year Postgrad Students

Online Registration opens Tuesday, 19th August
(Closes September 30th for Taught Postgrads and October 31st for Research Postgrads)

New 1st Year PhD with start date after March 1st 2025?

As you are starting your course between 1st March and 31st August, you will commence in a ‘0’ course stream e.g. 0SPA1.  This stream allows you to register, obtain your student card set up your campus student accounts and gain access to a wide range of campus services and facilities.

You will be required to register again in August 2025 for the 1st year of your course e.g. 1SPA1.  Registration information for 25/26 will be updated on our registration webpage www.universityofgalway.ie/registration later in the year. 

Online registration is now closed.  If you wish to Register for the remainder of the academic year, the following is required:

1.   COLLEGE PERMISSION: Permission from College / Supervisor to register.           

2.    FEES: Contact the Fees Office at fees@universityofgalway.ie .   Once the Fees Office clear you to register, email confirmation of same to registration@universityofgalway.ie.             

3.    STUDENT: In order for us to manually register you, we require your authorisation, please email registration@universityofgalway.ie if you want to register and accept the Universities Terms & Conditions
