Research Interests

Research interests include the evolution and implementation of Revenue Management in the hospitality industry.

I regularly visit hotels to view their systems in place and liaise with their Revenue Management committees in order to keep up to date on this constantly evolving topic.I have pursued further study in this area with Cornell University and attend as many industry briefings and conferences as possible.

As the only administrator of the Shannon College Alumni Database, I monitor alumni career progression on a continuous basis. I will be working with colleagues overseeing research in Shannon College to formalise the paths taken by our alumni - including career position, industry, geography, nationality and gender.

Teaching Interests

  • Hotel Front Office Operations and Management
  • Revenue Management
  • Information Technology

Front Office Operations and Management with a particular interest in Revenue Management and the impact of IT on hotel rooms management form the core of my lectures and role in the college. I also devised and deliver the Revenue Management module to the final year students.

Information Technology and its ongoing impact on hotels and education are of personal interest to me. My lectures in Information Technology cover IT theory and practical and there is a cross over with IT development and the Front Office departments both in service delivery as well as guest experience and interaction.

As these areas are constantly changing and update, I keep up with these developments through alumni engagement, site visits and reading both journal articles in addition to newsletters and industry news.
