Biography

María Palma-Fahey lectures in Shannon College, University of Galway. She teaches Spanish and Intercultural Communication for Business (MSc courses). Maria holds a Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics from Mary Immaculate College, University of Limerick, and a MA in Spanish from the University of Cork.
She has designed and developed the Intercultural Communication modules which are taught in Shannon College, at undergraduate and at postgraduate levels.  She is Programme Leader of Intercultural Communication Training, and also leads the Cultural Immersion Programme at Shannon College.
Her research interests include: Language, Culture and Identity; Language and Gender in Fictional Media; Irish English Pragmatics; Language Regional Variation across Spanish(es); and International Hotel Management Students' Pre-Placement Intercultural Communication Training.
