Biography

Dr Anne O’ Connor, lecturer in Clinical Psychology and Senior Clinical Psychologist completed her undergraduate training in NUIG and her clinical psychology training at the University of Glasgow. She also completed a Masters in Applied Behaviour Analysis in NUIG and a PhD at the University of Limerick. For her PhD her research explored parent’s adjustment process following the diagnosis of their child’s developmental challenge. Anne has worked in services providing assessment and support to children who had experienced sexual abuse, in child paediatric and mental health services and services for children and their families where the child has been identified as being at risk of or having a developmental challenge. Anne worked on the doctorate programme for clinical psychology at the University of Limerick prior to moving to the Doctorate Programme in Clinical Psychology (DPsychSc) in NUIG in August 2018. Anne currently supervises research projects on a wide range of topics at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Her main areas of research interest is in the broad area of disability. Anne has developed an expertise in the application of Grounded Theory Methodology to explore social processes.
