Biography

Dr. Duygu Sezgin is a lecturer and Head of Discipline in General Nursing in the School of Nursing and Midwifery. She is also the Programme Director for the Wound Healing and Tissue Repair MSc/PGDip, and the Programme Coordinator for the Postgraduate Professional Credit Award in the School of Nursing and Midwifery. 

Dr. Sezgin has MSc and PhD degrees in Public Health Nursing from Istanbul University. She has clinical nursing experience in cardiology, neurology and newborn care as well as experience in home care nursing. Prior to joining NUIG, Dr. Sezgin had research and lecturing experience in two universities in Istanbul. Since moving to Ireland in 2016 to take up a role as a postdoctoral researcher, she has been involved in multiple national and international research projects. 
Her research background includes frailty, ageing, transitional and intermediate care, health promotion interventions, quality care metrics, and occupational health and safety. She has publications and research interests in systematic reviews and meta-analyses, Delphi methodology, model-based interventions, and qualitative study designs.
