Biography

Dr Yvonne Finn medical graduate of School of Medicine, University of Galway, and holds an MD in Medicine (Galway), MSc (Health Sciences, Galway) and PG Dip in Diabetes (Leicester). Yvonne's teaching focusses on clinical and communication skills (undergraduate), and medical education, preventive cardiology and cultural awareness (postgraduate). Yvonne is a recipient of the President¿s Award for Teaching Excellence (2022). She has supervised student research projects at undergraduate (undergraduate medicine summer research) and postgraduate (MSc and PhD) levels.
Previously roles held by Yvonne include VD for Internationalisation in the College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences and academic coordinator of the ERASMUS+ programme, School of Medicine. She currently chairs a special interest group of the European Association for Communication in Healthcare and sits on the educational advisory committee of the National Institute for Prevention and Cardiovascular Health.Yvonne¿s research interests are in communication skills, health literacy and new technologies, such as virtual reality (VR), for health professions¿ education. She has published widely in peer-reviewed journals and has authored two books. She has been an invited speaker at more than 30 professional and educational conferences, both nationally and internationally. Yvonne has been awarded research funding from HRB, ERASMUS+, Wellcome Trust and University of Galway Millennium fund.
