Biography

I have a background in Medicine. I completed my postgraduate training in Medicine and acquired my membership with the Royal College of Physicians in Ireland. I have since diversified into medical education. I have focused on my professional development while working as a medical educator. I completed a Postgraduate Diploma in Clinical Education. This was followed by a Postgraduate Diploma and then a Masters in Healthcare Simulation and Patient Safety (HSP).

I lead a team of simulation facilitators in Sligo Medical Academy. We deliver high quality Simulation Based Education (SBE). This is in addition to delivering curriculum via small group lectures, case based learning sessions and bedside teaching. I am adept at formative assessment, mentoring students along the way. I have a leading role in pastoral care. I contribute greatly to all aspects of summative assessments. I have developed and lead a programme of Inter-Professional Education (IPE) via simulation at a postgraduate level in Sligo University Hospital.

Overall, I am a passionate medical educator who not only imparts knowledge but also inspires, guides and mentors her students to develop to their full potential; academically as well as professionally.
