Biography

Larry Donnelly is a native of Boston, MA, USA who holds both American and Irish passports. Mr. Donnelly teaches legal skills modules at undergraduate and postgraduate levels and is the founder and director of the School of Law's highly regarded Clinical Legal Education programme. He presents conference papers and publishes law journal articles in Ireland and internationally on legal education and comparative law. An attorney with substantial experience of practice before the state and federal bars of Massachusetts, Mr. Donnelly was active in politics and government there and now contributes regularly to various media outlets on politics, current affairs and law in the United States and in Ireland. From 2010-2012, he was on leave of absence from the School of Law and worked as Manager of the Public Interest Law Alliance (PILA), a Dublin-based project of the Free Legal Advice Centres Ltd., which seeks to expand the use of law in the public interest and for the benefit of marginalised and disadvantaged people in Ireland.  He remains a consultant to PILA. Mr. Donnelly is a graduate of the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, MA and of Suffolk University Law School in Boston, MA, where he was elected a Chief Editor of the Suffolk Transnational Law Review.
