Biography:
I am a registered children’s nurse, general nurse and nurse tutor. I obtained a masters degree in education and training from the University of Surrey. I developed the Clinical Skills Laboratories in the School of Nursing & Midwifery in 2001. I am responsible for the day to day management of the laboratories. I teach clinical skills at undergraduate and post graduate level. I introduced simulation as a teaching strategy for students on the BNS program several years ago and OSCEs (Objective Structured Clinical Examination) as an assessment strategy for undergraduate and post graduate programmes. I am a member of the Education Research Cluster in the School of Nursing and Midwifery and a member of Clinical Skills Network Ireland. My research interests are teaching methodologies, assessment methodologies and clinical competence. |
