Biography

Conn Holohan is Director of the Centre for Creative Technologies and Course Director of the BA in Film & Digital Media and a lecturer in film and media studies. He is a graduate of Dublin City University and completed his PhD on contemporary Irish and Spanish cinema at Ulster University. His research focuses on space and place in European and Hollywood cinema, and his publications include the monograph Cinema on the Periphery: Contemporary Irish and Spanish Cinema as well as a number of journal articles and book chapters on space and place in Hollywood and European cinema.

Dr Holohan has led a number of community-based and practice-led research projects, and is PI on Immersive Empathy, an Irish Research Council and Science Foundation Ireland funded project which explores the use of immersive technologies to increase empathy towards socially marginalized communities.
