Biography

Dr Siobhán Morrissey is a lecturer in Children's Studies in the School of Education. Siobhán completed her PhD on the British children's author Enid Blyton, examining the underlying colonial and imperial ideologies of her twentieth-century fiction. She is currently completing a monograph based on her PhD thesis for publication with Bloomsbury Academic in 2025.
She previously worked as a post-doctoral researcher on an Erasmus + funded project which focused on promoting service-learning with migrant communities, with collaborators in the University of Santiago de Compostela in Spain and the University of Verona in Italy. 
Siobhán is currently working on a Taighde Éireann (formerly IRC) funded project in partnership with Children's Books Ireland titled "Irish Children¿s Books in the Classroom: Enhancing Pre-Service Teachers¿ Knowledge of Irish Literature" which works to better equip pre-service primary school teachers with the knowledge, skills, and resources to cultivate positive relationships between child learners, books, and reading and increase the use of Irish children's books in primary school classrooms.
