Biography

With a background in second-level teaching (Gaeilge, Geography & History) and educational technologies, Seán is employed as a Lecturer in Education in the School of Education, National University of Ireland, Galway. In 2013, Seán developed and coordinated the first fully integrated 1:1 mobile device deployment on an Initial Teacher Education programme in Europe. His model integrated iPad technology in every element of the programme from using video reflection of practice to piloting remote and mobile tutor visits.  This ITE programme was selected as an 'Apple Distinguished Programme' for 2015 and again in 2017. The programme places a particular emphasis on content creation where students author and publish curricular iBooks and iTunesU courses. A case study on Seán’s work is published on the Apple website and is available here www.apple.com/ie/education/ipad/teach-with-ipad/ Seán is an Apple Distinguished Educator (Class of 2013) and provides Apple Professional Development (APD) training to educational institutions nationwide and across Europe.  Seán is an accomplished and engaging public speaker.  He has delivered keynote addresses at numerous international conferences and in 2014 he was selected to speak on the 'Apple Faculty Speaker Series'.
Seán is the founder and current chair of MiTE Conference (International Conference on Mobile Technologies in Initial Teacher Education) and also acts as co-editor to the conference.                    http://www.gratek.ie/mite2016/
