Dr Michal Folwarczny
Dr. Michal Folwarczny is a Lecturer Above the Bar in Marketing at University of Galway. He obtained his Ph.D. from Reykjavik University in 2022, where he worked as a postdoctoral research fellow until mid-2023, before joining the J.E. Cairnes School of Business & Economics. During his doctoral studies, Michal secured approximately 100,000 EUR for his research on the evolutionary bases of sustainable and non-sustainable food preferences.
In 2023, he received the Malewski Prize from the President of the Polish Academy of Sciences for outstanding scientific achievements. This prestigious award is given to researchers under 35 years of age who excel in multidisciplinary research. It underscores Michal's interest in integrating social, evolutionary, and consumer psychology to predict food preferences, particularly in the realms of health and sustainability.
Michal's research methods primarily focus on experimental studies. However, he also employs other methodologies, such as psychometric scale development and web scraping to gain insights into consumer behavior. His research has been featured in media outlets including the LA Times, The Independent, and the Daily Mail.
