Biography

Sinéad Lydon is a behavioural psychologist working in the School of Medicine at NUI Galway. Sinéad is a Senior Lecturer in Primary Care, teaching on the School's undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, and a member of the Irish Centre for Applied Patient Safety and Simulation's research team. Her research is focused on improving patient safety and quality of care, and involving patients in improvement efforts. Sinéad became the first Irish Certified Professional in Patient Safety in 2019.

Sinéad holds a PhD in Psychology (funded by the Irish Research Council) from Trinity College Dublin, an MSc in Applied Behaviour Analysis, a BA in Psychology, a Diploma in Irish, a Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching and Learning in Higher Education, a Postgraduate Diploma in Academic Practice, and a Masters in Academic Practice. She has authored more than 80 peer-reviewed journal articles.
