Biography

Álvaro Llorente Berzal is a Research Fellow at the Department of Pharmacology and Therapeutics at the National University of Ireland, Galway. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at Universidad Complutense de Madrid in 2007 and received his PhD from the same institution in 2013. During his Thesis he visited several scientific institutions in USA (William Paterson University and National Institutes on Drug Addiction) and Europe (Max Planck Institut für Psychiatrie and Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona) and collaborated with some Spanish institutions (Universidad Nacional de Educación a Distancia and Universitat de València). His scientific work during his PhD focused on the role of the endocannabinoid system in animal models of psychopathologies based on neurodevelopment and drug abuse during adolescence. He has contributed to 20 articles and in 6 of them he is the first author.
His main interest is to investigate the role of the endocannabinoid system in neuropathologies with a great sex dimorphic component
