Research
The discipline of Physiology is highly research active with an overarching theme of promoting Life Long Health. The research programme in the discipline is particularly strong in the areas of Neurophysiology; Reproduction, Development and Aging; and Exercise. The researchers in the discipline examine biological processes from a single cell through to the whole human body and utilise a wide array start-of- the-art methodologies and technologies in their research. Being housed in the Human Biology Building, Physiology researchers have access to high spec laboratory and core facilities. The collaborative nature of physiology means that in addition to established and ongoing projects with researchers in other disciplines and centres at NUI Galway, researchers also work with national and international collaborators to fully realise the potential and impact of their work.
