Prof. Nicholas Allen (Professor)
Professor Nicholas M. Allen is a consultant General Paediatrician & Paediatric Neurologist.  He completed his undergraduate studies at NUI Galway.   Following higher specialist training in Paediatrics in Ireland (oncology, general paediatrics, neonatology, nephrology, endocrinology, neurology), he completed clinical and research fellowships in Paediatric Neurology (Epilepsy at Temple St. Children’s University Hospital, Dublin and Great Ormond St. Children’s Hospital, London) and Neuromuscular Disorders at the Evelina Children’s Hospital, Guys & St. Thomas Trust, London.

He completed his research M.D. thesis in basic science and later research interests in general paediatrics, paediatric neurology, epilepsy and neurogenetics.   He also has an interest in Clinical Education having held previous posts as clinical tutor in paediatrics and a Master’s Degree in Clinical Education (NUI Galway).

Dr. Edina Moylett (Senior Lecturer)
Dr. Edina Moylett has been in post as Senior Lecturer in Paediatrics at National University of Ireland, Galway/ Consultant Paediatrician at University college Hospital Galway since 2004.  Prior to joining the academic staff at NUIG, Dr. Moylett was a member of the paediatric faculty at Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, Texas where she completed fellowship training in both paediatric infectious diseases and paediatric allergy and clinical immunology. Formerly a graduate of the Royal College of Surgeons, Dr. Moylett is a member of Royal College of Physicians of Ireland, Faculty of Paediatrics.   Dr Moylett also sits on many national training committees as well as the National Immunisation Advisory Committee.  Within her role in the School of Medicine Dr. Moylett chairs the Student Affairs Committee, Dr Moylett also sits on the West of Ireland GP Steering Committee.
Dr Moylett’s main research interests are:  Clinical Infectious Disease & Disease Epidemiology.

Dr. Rosemary Geoghegan (Lecturer)
Dr. Rosemary Geoghegan is a Lecturer in Paediatrics at NUIG.  A medical graduate with honours from NUI, Galway, she has a Diploma in Child Health from UCD and completed her General Practice training with the Western Health Board Training Program in 1997.  She subsequently obtained membership of the Irish College of General Practitioners and has worked in general practice in Galway city. Dr Geoghegan joined the Academic Department of Paediatrics as lecturer in September 2005. Since joining the Department of Paediatrics, Dr Geoghegan has completed post graduate training in diabetes as well as completing a Masters in Medical Education.  Dr Geoghegan’s research interests include transitional care in diabetes as well as diabetes epidemiology.

Dr. Donough O'Donovan 
Dr. Donough O’Donovan has been in post as Consultant Neonatologist/Paediatrician at University College Hospital Galway and clinical Lecturer in Paediatrics at the National University of Ireland, Galway since 2004.  Prior to joining the academic staff at NUIG, Dr. O’Donovan was a member of the paediatric faculty at Texas Children’s Hospital (1999-2004) in Houston, Texas where he completed fellowship training in Neonatology (1996-1999).   Formerly a graduate of the Royal College of Surgeons, Dr. O’Donovan is a Fellow of Royal College of Physicians of Ireland, and a member of the Faculty of Paediatrics. Research interests include: Neonatal lung disease, Necrotizing enterocolitis & Clinical audit in Neonatology.

Dr. Orla Flanagan 
Orla Flanagan has been in post as a Consultant Paediatrician with the Brothers of Charity and UCHG since January 2006.  Prior to taking up this post she worked as a lecturer in the Paediatric department from September 2003-June 2005.   A graduate of NUI Galway she completed her training in Community Paediatrics/ Neuro-developmental Paediatrics at Alder Hey in Liverpool.   She is a member of the Royal College of Physicians.  Her main research interests are Early Identification of Children with Learning Disabilities and Children with Autism.
