Galway Clinical Research Facility
ANAESTHESIA AND THE GALWAY CLINICAL RESEARCH FACILITY
Overview
The Department of Anaesthesia also has a significant role in the HRB Clinical Research Facility, Galway. The aim of the Galway CRF is to provide the infrastructure, the physical space, facilities and experts needed to support patient-focused research studies aimed at understanding a range of diseases and bringing the research work in these areas to the patient as speedily as possible.
The HRB and HSE are jointly funding the construction of the Clinical Research Facility (CRF) building in the grounds of University College Galway Hospital. This is a major achievement for NUIG and Galway University Hospitals and will provide crucial infrastructure for translational research. The building is expected to be completed in 2010. The HRB Clinical Research Facility, Galway will employ up to 20 staff. The facility will include a laboratory, consulting rooms, specialist medical equipment and a small number of patient beds.
