Public and Patient Involvement (PPI) in Research

PPI is research being carried out ‘with’ or ‘by’ members of the public rather than ‘to’, ‘about’ or ‘for’ them. “Nothing about us, without us” (www.invo.org.uk)

Dr Ruth Mc Menamin is co-lead for the PPI Ignite Network at University of Galway - See https://www.universityofgalway.ie/ppi/

Family and Person-Centred Practice

Understanding the lives, preferences and perspectives of people with communication disorders will help professionals/practitioners and clients to work together to create family and person-centred solutions. We are researching the lived experiences of clients (children, young people and adults), and the perspectives of their parents and their professionals and collaborative team working. This research aims to support partnerships with people who use services.
