Secure Device Configuration
Keep software up to date and configure your security.
The easiest way to ensure your software is kept up to date and is configured securely is to use one of the University Supported Desktop configurations. These are set up to keep up to date automatically and have all the security software installed, and configured correctly.

On your own device make sure to regularly check for Windows Updates. You can check this in Control Panel > Windows Updates.
Apple computers will automatically notify you when there is a system update to be done.
For any applications that you use to make sure to check regularly in their menus or on their websites for any updates.
Firewalls
Any college networked computers are connected to the campus network. You are responsible however for making sure that any personal devices are protected and have their firewall enabled. You can find details on how to enable your firewall here.
