The Office of the Special Representative of the Secretary-General for Children and Armed Conflict (OSRSG CAAC), Siobhán Mullally, the Special Rapporteur on trafficking in persons, especially women and children (UNSRTIP), and the Permanent Missions of Greece and Panama to the United Nations are hosting a high-level event to discuss the linkages between child trafficking and the six grave violations against children in armed conflict. This occasion will feature findings and recommendations from a study that was developed by the OSRSG CAAC, in collaboration with the UNSRTIP, UN Country Task Forces on Monitoring and Reporting (CTFMRs) in select situations on the CAAC agenda, as well as experts working at the intersection of trafficking, child protection and CAAC.

The research presented at this event will aim to strengthen the understanding of the linkages between child trafficking and the six grave violations monitored through the UN’s CAAC Agenda. It will provide Member States, UN entities and civil society organizations the opportunity to discuss prevention, accountability, monitoring and response for the protection of children, fostering further collaboration to prevent these violations in accordance with the relevant UN Security Council resolutions.

The event will be moderated by Professor Siobhán Mullally Director of our Irish Centre for Human Rights and Special Rapporteur on trafficking in persons, especially women and children.
