NUIG Print Service - How to add a Printer from Print Service
NUIG Print Service - How to Add a Networked Printer
Introduction
University of Galway provide a facilty where printers are hosted on a centralized managed print service.
This allows departments to control how they share and use multifunction printer with their staff/postgraduates.
Prerequisities
This procedure is for Windows 7 clients that are connected to the wired network.
Your PC/Laptop MUST be in the University of Galway Windows domain.
STEP 1 - Click on the Windows Key and go to Search programs and files
STEP 2 - Type in \\printservice.nuigalway.ie
STEP 3 - You will be presented with a list of printers.
Double click on the the printer you wish to install.
STEP 4 - You will get a message telling you that the printer is being installed.
This can take a few seconds to do.
STEP 5 - You will see your printer placed in the Printers Section in your control panel.
Click on the Windows Start button and go into Devices and Printers
To make this printer your default printer, right click on it and click on Set as Default Printer
