I have a technical issue - who do I go to?

The Curriculum Management service is supported by both the Syllabus Team in Academic Administration and by ISS. Curriculum issues are dealt with by the Syllabus Team, while technical issues are dealt with by the ISS. Technical issues include:

  • Akari Document site is inaccessible or unavailable
  • Account Issue
  • Akari Document site is perfomring very poorly

All technical issues with the service should be logged as normal through the Service Desk Ticketing System. However, please do have a look at the FAQ first as the answer is likely to be there!

I have a Curriculum/Syllabus issue - who do I go to?

The Curriculum Management service is supported by both the Syllabus Team in Academic Administration and by ISS. Curriculum and Syllabus issues are dealt with by the Syllabus Team, while technical issues are dealt with by the ISS.

All Curriculum and Syllabus issues can be logged through the Syllabus Team's online form, rather than through the Service Desk Ticketing System.

Where can I access Akari training documents?

The Syllabus Team in Academic Records maintain all Akari training documents. Click training documents link to access the most recent training resources.

Try a different browser or log a ticket with the ISS Service Desk.

How does Akari Document impact Quercus?

All student records and Marks and Standards will still be held in Quercus.  For this reason all assessment changes and other alterations entered on Akari will be sent to Quercus.  This is necessary to ensure that Registration, Exams, and Conferring can occur.

Why am I not the owner of my modules?

Akari follows that logic that whoever created a new version of the module is the owner of that version.  This is for transparency and to enable changes to be traced back to the person who made them. It does not mean that the academic who wrote the module no longer ‘owns’ their module.  It just indicates who last adjusted the module on the system.

How do I add modules to a course?

Modules are added to the year of study; therefore, in Akari Document, add modules to the relevant Course instance.

 Who enters Marks and Standards?

Akari stores curriculum information only.  Marks and Standards will continue to be entered by the Syllabus Team.  This includes pass marks, compensation rules, and derogations.

Where do I add Bonds in Akari?

Bonds are added using the 'bonds' tab at the module level.  Details on how to do this are contained in the training documents.

Why did Learning Outcomes and References not transfer to Akari from Quercus?

This information, though submitted on the new modules form, was never entered into Quercus.  This is because there was no place to store it.  When the data in Quercus was transferred to Akari this information was not included.  Information on Learning Outcomes and References is required for all new modules entered on Akari.  Old modules can exist without the Learning Outcomes unless they are updated.  This is an interim measure necessary to ensure all modules were transferred to Akari.

What is the difference between a 1 Level  and a 2 Level course?

A 1 Level course refers to a programme where there are modules only and no subjects.  A 2 Level course has subjects which contain modules.

E.g. History as a subject with HIXXX1, HIXXX2 and HIXXX3 as the modules contained in that subject.  On a 2 level programme, marks are returned for each module and an overall mark calculated for the subject result.
