What's new for 2024/2025?
College of Arts, Social Sciences and Celtic Studies
- GY101 BA Joint Honours and GY129 BA (Global Experience) – International Development is no longer available as a subject option for these programmes (as of CAO 2024)
- GY136 title changed to BA (Gaeilge agus Léann an Aistriúcháin) (as of CAO 2024)
College of Science and Engineering
- GY320 has a new title; BSc Physics (as of CAO 2024)
- GY313 has a new title; BSc Occupational Health and Safety Management (as of CAO 2024)
College of Business, Public Policy and Law
From CAO 2026 onwards, Spanish will no longer be available on the BComm at Beginners Level. This will impact as follows:
- GY204 BComm International (Spanish): At present, a H4 in a modern European language other than Irish or English is required. This will remain unchanged for CAO 2025 however for CAO 2026, this requirement will change to a H4 in Spanish.
- GY201 BComm and GY209 BComm Global Experience: Beginners Spanish will not be available for students enrolling from 2026 onwards (but will be available for students enrolling in 2024 and 2025).
- GY253 Law and Taxation is no longer available (as of CAO 2024)
College of Medicine, Nursing and Health Sciences
- GY501 Medicine (Surgery and Obstetrics) will have major changes to its curriculum from September 2025 onwards. Details will be available on the course webpage from autumn 2024 onwards.
- University of Galway is preparing to offer a five year integrated MPharm. The programme is currently under development and will be put forward for accreditation shortly. It is hoped the programme will be available for CAO 2025, For further details on the course please click link below.
