Indicative Module Descriptor:

This module is aimed at students in the first year of the programme. The module aims to give students the opportunity to maintain, consolidate and develop clinical skills across the therapy and podiatry programmes at NUI Galway (SLT/OT/Podiatry) while undertaking a PhD. This will be facilitated by undertaking a weekly placement in a HSE setting. As part of the placement the student will undertake a variety of duties including assessment, intervention, maintaining records and management of a small caseload.

Indicative Learning Outcomes:

On successful completion of this module, students should have

• consolidated undergraduate clinical skills
• developed and increased competency in specific areas of practice eg orthopaedics, neurology and intensive care
• developed assessment skills necessary for PhD data collection
