Milika Sakala - International and Comparative Disability Law and Policy
"I first came to University of Galway in 2012 for the International Disability Summer School. It was my first time to hear about a course on Disability Law and by the end of the Summer School I had made up my mind to one day coming back to study the course. Thanks to the Open Society Foundation scholarship fund, I was able to make my dream a reality. All in all, it has been a rewarding course. The mixed population of international students made me feel at ease as I was initially worried about feeling out of place in a predominantly European environment. I also found the university staff to be quite friendly and supportive. One feature I found useful in my studies are the opportunities available for students to attend seminars facilitated by expert guest speakers in various fields. I can sum up the Irish culture as warmth, cheer and music! Galway is a kind, cultured and diverse."
