Raghdah Fatani - MSc Biotechnology
"My name is Raghdah Fatani, I am 24 years old and I am from Saudi Arabia. I am currently studying a MSc Biotechnology at University of Galway. I chose this course because the university is one of the best universities in Science and Medicine in Ireland. Also my course is very interesting and I think I will have a great chance to get a good job in the future, hopefully. I was delighted when I met the entry requirements and received my acceptance letter. The application process was very easy – I applied online via PAC (the online application system). If I was to describe my first day at University – I would say that I was very excited, perhaps a little bit nervous but comfortable at the same time. In terms of finding accommodation – I did feel that it was perhaps a little bit more difficult to find privately rented accommodation then say opting for the student residence; this is because I felt that the landlords perhaps preferred workers; however the University did provide assistance for students to help them find accommodation; which helped. In terms of coming from Saudi Arabia to study at University of Galway the VISA application was very simple procedure; it was most easy and it just took me one week to receive the Visa. To summarise my experience of Irish Culture in 3 words I would say Friendly, amazing and beautiful."
