Collaborations/Networks
Collaborations/Networks
We take pride in the strong collaborations we have established, regionally, nationally and internationally. We have over one hundred general practices involved in our undergraduate educational programmes and WestREN research activities. We lead the NUI Galway Population and Health Services Research Alliance which includes researchers from nursing, clinical medicine, economics, health psychology, marketing, ethics, biostatistics and epidemiology.
Examples of our collaborations with national colleagues include:
- Irish Primary Care Research Network (iPCRN) which we jointly founded with the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland and the Irish College of General Practitioners.
- Trinity College Dublin
- University College Cork
- University College Dublin
- University of Limerick
Collaboration also occurred with Irish state agencies including:
- The National Council on Ageing and Older People
- The Irish Hospice Foundation
- Combat Poverty
- Out-of-Hospital Cardiac Arrest Register (OHCAR).
International collaborators included:
- Queen’s University Belfast
- Universities in Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Liverpool, London, Newcastle, Cardiff, Monash (Australia), Adelaide, Oslo, Rotterdam, Nijmegen, Vienna, Crete, Iceland and Groningen, as well as Oulu University Hospital Finland, Vasterbottens County Council Sweden, and the Norwegian Centre for Telemedicine.
