Galway RNA Research Cluster

Galway RNA Research Cluster

Welcome to the Galway RNA Research Cluster

We are a multi-disciplinary consortium of researchers at the University of Galway, Ireland. Our aim is to develop novel RNA-based biomarkers and therapeutics for common areas of aging-related conditions and severe neuromuscular rare disorders in children and adults without a cure.

Aims and Vision

Vision: Our vision is to lead the development of breakthrough biomarkers and therapies, through better mechanistic understanding of disorders and development of RNA science and technology, for common areas of ageing-related conditions (e.g. sarcopenia, osteoporosis, cancer) and severe neuromuscular rare disorders in children and adults without a cure.

Aim: The Cluster encompasses a multi-disciplinary group of PIs with expertise in in vitro and in vivo models relevant to functional human physiology, multi-layered human dataset analyses using data modelling and AI, novel human samples, as well as RNA biomarker and pre-clinical therapeutic candidate development.

The cluster aims to work on improving basic understanding of disease pathology and the development of novel RNA therapies. The ultimate aim of our cluster is to develop interventions to ameliorate conditions focusing on endogenous and synthetic RNA molecules.
