Important Notes

  1. QA245 University Guidelines - Regulation 25: "Where the examiners are in agreement, they shall submit a joint report with a recommendation for award or otherwise of the degree …... This report shall be submitted online by the internal examiner to the Examinations Office within two weeks of the oral examination. The report will be considered by the Academic Council Standing Committee.”
  2. Students wishing to confer must have submitted their corrected hardbound thesis, e-thesis and Library Form (EOG 051) by the submission deadline outlined on the Academic Records and Registration: Conferring website.
  3. Travel information for students and examiners visiting the University of Galway.
  4. Candidates must be registered at the time of submission of the soft copy thesis.
  5. Supervisors are advised that internal and external examiners must be approved by College Office prior to submission of the soft copy thesis.

Important Notes

  1. Following submission of thesis soft copy to the Student Registry Helpdesk (SRH), it will be received by examiners within 10 working days. It is recommended that examiners have 6 weeks to review the thesis prior to the viva.

  1. Does not include Ph.D. or M.D. Degree
  2. Candidates must be registered at the time of submission of the soft copy thesis.
  3. Supervisors are advised that internal and external examiners must be approved by College Office prior to submission of the soft copy thesis.
  4. Candidates are advised that the joint examiners report is required in order to progress to conferring.

    "8.5 Examination Report: A short report is prepared by the External Examiner, in consultation with the Internal Examiner, on the basis of the examination of the thesis, and oral examination, if it is required. The report is submitted to the Examinations Office, for consideration by the Standing Committee of Academic Council.”
