University of Galway is a founding member of the ENLIGHT European University which brings together 10 research-intensive universities throughout Europe.   

ENLIGHT is working to establish an open integrated European university system without barriers to learning, teaching and research.  ENLIGHT is focused on six themes:  climate change, health & well-being, equity, energy & circular economy, digitalisation and culture & creativity. ENLIGHT connects our cities and regional partners with our universities. Our associated partners play a central role in the development of our courses and our research and innovation synergies around real-life challenges.
