Prof. Elaine Keane

We are dynamic, highly engaged, and research active educators, who are passionate about education.

Our vision is to champion education for the public good by:

  • harnessing our diverse skills and talents to enrich all students’ and teachers’ educational experiences;
  • collaborating with stakeholders internally and externally to support access, engagement, and success for all throughout the educational lifecycle; and
  • engaging in high quality, significant and impactful educational research.

The Discipline of Education is committed to excellence, innovation, and inclusion in our professional practice and research. It is a privilege to work closely with future teachers, current teachers, school leaders and other educational professionals across sectors, and with schools more broadly, in our collective efforts to provide high quality and ‘21st Century ready’ education.

At the heart of our work is initial and continuing teacher education, and we offer a range of innovative programmes in this domain at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels grounded in theoretical and empirical research as well as real-life concerns and experiences in schools and classrooms.

Our research focuses on core themes inter alia diversity and social justice in education, technology-enhanced teaching and learning, and professional learning, supported by a wide range of funded national and international projects. We also have a thriving doctoral education community, whose research spans a multitude of topics.

We are always delighted to meet members of the extended educational community and anyone interested in education, so do please get in touch!
