Incoming International, Visiting and Erasmus students with Disabilities
Welcome to the University of Galway!
The Disability Support Service is available to incoming International, Visiting and Erasmus students who may need supports or reasonable accommodations due to the impact of a disability, ongoing physical or mental health condition, or a specific learning difficulty.
If you are planning to study at the University of Galway and feel you may need reasonable accommodations and supports to assist you in the completion of your studies, you are encouraged to contact the Disability Support Service. You should do this in advance of accepting your course/place, as you may benefit from having a conversation with a Disability Advisor regarding the types of supports and reasonable accommodations that are available to you at the University of Galway. Please note that the supports and reasonable accommodations that applied in your home university may not be available at the University of Galway. How to Apply to the Disability Support Service
Applying to the Disability Support Service (DSS) is a separate process to registering as a student in University of Galway.
If you have accepted a place at University of Galway, you are advised to apply to the DSS well in advance of arrival. Ideally, this should be done as soon as you accept your offer to study at University of Galway. For details of how to apply, please follow this link How to Apply
Incoming Student Considerations
- Consider the existing supports and reasonable accommodations that you avail of in your home university and if these were to differ in University of Galway, how will you adapt or create alternative strategies to address them.
- Consider any medication requirements you may have and if you will have the same access to these in Ireland.
- Identify who your course contact/link is at University of Galway.
