Overview
This module has been developed by the education team at the School of Nursing and Midwifery at University of Galway. This is an interactive module that aims to provide a theoretical and practical exposure at helping the learner to begin teaching. When we talk about teaching, this applies to teaching learners, patients/clients or their families. Topics to be explored include: theories of learning, writing a personal teaching philosophy, planning a teaching session and writing up a lesson plan, writing learning outcomes and learning about various teaching strategies. The module is delivered using blended learning including (1.5 days workshops) and is delivered over 12 weeks.
Entry Requirements
- Applicants must be registered healthcare professionals currently working in Irish care setting.
- Have an opportunity to teach in their current practice.
- To meet the module learning outcomes you must undertake a minimum of 10 hours of teaching.

Unit 4: Experimental learning and reflective practice
Course Outcomes
On successful completion of this micro-credential, you will receive credits as per the European Credit and Transfer System. These credits are recognised by the awarding institution as credits aligned to learning completed at postgraduate level 9.
