About Us
Background
The Confucius Institute Director Prof. Timothy O’Brien and Vice-Director Prof. Sanbing Shen submitted a proposal to Hanban for the Confucius Institute establishment in late 2018, which was subsequently approved. This formed an official agreement with the Confucius Institute international headquarters (Hanban) and Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine (NJUCM) in February 2019 to establish the Confucius Institute of Chinese and Regenerative Medicine here at the University of Galway.
Our Confucius Institute is unique in its aim of combining Chinese Medicine and Regenerative Medicine and is head of the Global Alliance of Confucius Institutes for Chinese Medicine (GACICM) worldwide.
The Confucius Institute at the University of Galway is an initiative between the parties to further develop the friendship and collaboration between China and the University of Galway.
