COST Action IS1303 CHIPME – Citizen’s health through public-private initiatives: public health, market and ethical perspectives (2013-2017)
Action Chair: Dr. Heike Felzmann (2015-2017)
The Action focused on the ethical, legal and social consequences arising from the increased availability of genome sequencing. The Action addressed the changing role of genomic information in health care, the challenges and opportunities of large scale biobanking and genomic data sharing, the emergence of direct-to-consumer genetic testing, and the potential role of public bodies, citizens, and private actors in this emerging field. It brought together academics from across Europe from the field of genetics, law, bioethics and social sciences, with strong focus on the development of Early Career Researchers. Its work included a programme of international workshops, conferences and summer schools, with outputs comprising a special issue in the Journal of Community Genetics https://link.springer.com/collections/beaeihhfhd and a range of other academic journal articles.
