The Discipline is engaged in internationally recognized research in the Philosophy of Culture, Philosophy of Religion, Political Philosophy and Meta-ethics. Research in this area includes work in the questions of social engagement and art, justice and disability, the phenomenology of religious experience and the metaphysics of value. We combine systematic and historical work on these topics with particular emphasis on the work of Nietzsche, Rawls, Gadamer, Marion, Ricoeur and Arendt. Our research in these areas contribute to UN Sustainable Development Goals 5 (Gender Inequality) and 10 (Reduced Inequalities) and to the College SRA 1 (Creativity, Culture and Inclusion).
