Biography

Rachel is a researcher and lecturer. Rachel joined the School of Geography, Archaeology, and Irish Studies at the National University of Ireland Galway in 2021. Her teaching is focused on the BSc in Social Sciences: http://www.ssrc.ie/bass/ 

In the past, Rachel has been a lecturer at Maynooth University, a post-doctoral Researcher in a collaboration between the Maynooth University Social Sciences Institute (MUSSI) and Dublin City Council Culture Company, and a post-doctoral researcher working with Threshold.

Rachel¿s research focuses on cities, networks, housing, climate, culture, community, artistic and activist interventions. Rachel teaches at undergraduate and postgraduate levels in these areas and invites postgraduate students researching these topics. Two current projects she is working on is the crossover between housing and climate justice, and also a community mapping project with Irish Travellers in North Dublin: https://www.paveepoint.ie/pavee-roads-home-community-mapping/

Her PhD research was entitled 'Liquid Urbanisms: Dublin's Loose Networks and Provisional Places¿ and looked at places and spaces in Dublin from 2013-2017. She was funded by an Irish Research Council Scholarship (2016-2018) and the John and Pat Hume Scholarship (2014-2016). Recent research awards include the Geographical Society of Ireland UGI-IGU International Geographical Union Paris 2022 Bursary, Irish Research Council New Foundations Grant and MUSSI and Faculty of Social Science Co-funded Small Research Grants 2020-2021 and Project Live Co-Created Research Project Funding, Experiential Learning Office, Maynooth University, 2020-2021. 



  

Research Interests
