Biography

The 'How' and 'Why' of climate change, and its impacts on the surface of our planet, are my broad areas of research interest. We live in a vast natural laboratory and are surrounded by geologic evidence for ice ages, abrupt climate change, and myriad human-climate interactions. My research here at NUIG employs a primarily glacial-geologic approach and a Big Picture vantage to reconstruct past change, information we can then use to better understand the present and inform projections of the future. Currently, I am leading investigations in Antarctica, the tropical Andes, and the British Isles, and I welcome enquiries from potential students and collaborators interested in tackling key problems of climate in the most breathtaking lab space on Earth. For a more in-depth view of my research programme, please visit my website.
