Tomy Ncube and Dr Una Murray collaborated with the UN International Labour Organization Training Center (ITC-ILO) to provide course content, including a case study and a group assessment, for a short course entitled The labour dimensions of climate change and human mobility. This course addresses a range of contemporary topics, including planned relocation. A total of 37 participants undertook the training including representatives of local authorities and other state actors, experts and technical staff from humanitarian agencies, NGOs, and civil society organizations working on climate change adaptation and labour mobility, as well as policymakers, technical advisors, and representatives of workers' and employers' organizations (from the Caribbean, North America, Asia, and the Pacific regions). PhD student Tomy was invited to present and moderate his case study on planned relocation in Zimbabwe. In recent years, collaboration with the ILO has been strengthened through Una’s presentations at COP Pavilions and meetings with ILO officials. Tomy’s fieldwork on relocated persons was identified as an important theme that would be of interest to a wider audience.
