BA in English & Media Studies
The primary focus of this programme is the theoretical study of media in critical and historical perspective. A core aim of this programme is to equip students with transferable communications and critical thinking skills that will equip them for future success in the labour market.
Students will have opportunities to explore both Media Studies and traditional English literature offerings. Based on current Teaching Council requirements, students in this denominated BA programme would meet the requirements to teach English at post-primary level.
Students will also develop research skills that afford them an appropriate grounding for further educational opportunities nationally or internationally. Several MA programmes provide pathways for graduates of this Denominated BA to proceed into further education at postgraduate levels at University of Galway. Please note this programme is in its final year for 2023-24.
