Childhood and Youth, Culture, and Society
THIS PAGE IS UNDER CONSTRUCTION
This interdisciplinary research group engages in the critical analysis of childhood and youth across different contexts and discourses.
Our work is articulated into three main strands:
- Power, agency, and voice in/of childhood, children and youth
- Social, cultural and educational perspectives on child and youth health and wellbeing;
- Constructions, representations, and experiences in/of childhood and adolescence.
Within these three strands, our research addresses constructions of child and youth health, development, and wellbeing (both present and through history); children and young people’s visibility, representation, and agency in society and across a variety of media.
Our work in these areas draws from a diverse range of disciplines – from sociology to anthropology, from literary criticism to health humanities – and is supported by national and international funding.
