Dr Paul Bradfield

Biography

Paul Bradfield is a graduate of University of Galway (BA, LLB), University College Cork (LLM in Criminal Justice) and the Honorable Society of Kings Inns (BL), and was called to the bar in 2009. He completed his PhD at the Irish Centre for Human Rights at University of Galway in 2021, with his thesis assessing the use of amnesty as a response to conflict in northern Uganda.

Paul has worked at various international courts in both defence and prosecution roles, including the tribunals for the former Yugoslavia, Rwanda, and the International Criminal Court. He has also worked for the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Uganda, and for Irish Rule of Law International in Malawi, on a range of transitional justice, human rights and access to justice issues. Domestically, he was previously a Prosecutor in the Central Criminal Court for the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
