Mingzhu Zhang

Mingzhu Zhang is a PhD candidate at University of Galway School of Law. Her research focuses on protecting online fan creations and empowering their creators. She aims to help creators respond to uncertainties of copyright law, address inappropriate algorithmic filtering and content removal in the context of copyright infringement assessment, and advocate for a safe and open online environment that fosters creative expression. Mingzhu is supervised by Dr. Rónán Kennedy and Dr. Abigail Rekas.

Mingzhu holds an LLB from Liaoning University, Mainland China, where her undergraduate thesis examined Webisode Censorship in China. She earned an LLM from National Chengchi University, Taiwan, with a thesis titled Substantial Similarity and Fair Use in Fictional Works.
