RaisuL Islam Sourav

RaisuL SOURAV (MD RAISUL ISLAM SOURAV) is a Doctoral Researcher at the School of Law, University of Galway. He holds a Scholarship awarded by the College of Business, Public Policy and Law of the University of Galway to pursue his PhD. RaisuL’s research focuses on Regulation of Legal Analytics in the Legal Profession and investigates whether legal analytics tools enhance access to justice.

RaisuL Sourav is an Associate Professor (presently on study leave) at the Department of Law, Dhaka International University (DIU), Dhaka, Bangladesh. He is also a qualified lawyer (Advocate) at the Supreme Court of Bangladesh and a rights activist. He is the elected Ethnic Minorities Officer 2024-25 of the University of Galway Students’ Union (Aras-Na-Mac-Leinn).

Mr. Raisul worked as a lead consultant for a Road Safety law reform project in Bangladesh. He writes numerous Opinion Editorials (Op-eds) and scholarly articles in both national and international newspapers and magazines on contemporary legal and human rights issues. Raisul is currently the Senior Editor of University of Galway Law Review. Earlier he served as the Executive Editor of Dhaka International University Journal of Law and Human Rights.

He is a Quality Assurance (QA) expert in Bangladesh having international training on QA at tertiary level of education. He has experience to work in the Higher Education Quality Enhancement Project (HEQEP) along with the University Grants Commission (UGC) of Bangladesh. Mr. Sourav performed the functions of Additional Director, Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) at DIU for more than seven years while he conducted self-assessment of different programmes and reviewed various QA related activities at DIU.

Raisul was a recipient of prestigious British Chevening Scholarship in 2017-18 (funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, United Kingdom) and achieved his second LLM in International Energy Law and Policy from the University of Stirling, UK. He has published his research outputs in reputable peer-reviewed journals and presented to esteemed international audiences.

Research Topic: Regulation of Legal Analytics to Protect the Interest of the Litigants and Fairness of the Judiciary.
