EWMA 2019
We were well represented by 4 of our members at this years EWMA - European Wound Management Association Conference held in Gothenburg, Sweden in June.
The theme of EWMA Conference 2019 was:
Person Centered Wound Care. Who is in charge of the Wound?
Professor Tim O’Brien gave a presentation on the Therapeutic potential of MSCs in Diabetic Foot /ulcers at a focus session chaired by Dr. Georgina Gethin. Georgina also chaired another focus session on malignant Fungating wounds and spoke on assessment tools for these wound types.
Dr. Andrew Cameron presented some of his work on the development of a pressure sensing device for use in compression therapy for venous leg ulcers while Megan Goldrick presented a poster entitled “Wound Patients' Perceptions of and Acceptance Toward Using Wearable Sensor Technology in Wound Care”.
It was an incredibly insightful gathering of the European and international wound management communities with the common goal of improving the care of wound patients.
Public & Patient Involvement Event, May 10th 2019
We held our most recent Public & Patient Involvement Event on May 10th. We had a fantastic and informative day working closely with our patient partners on research projects aimed at characterising the venous leg ulcer population, and developing a tool for timely detection of recurring ulcers.
We also discussed the possibility of initiating a collaborative art/design project.
We would like to extend our gratitude to the patients that came to help us and to those who assisted in making the event come together successfully. We hope that those who attended enjoyed the day.
