About the Project
ARDEN – Why is ARDEN important?
Completing a deep energy renovation on your home will make your home more energy efficient and reduce your energy bill. ARDEN aims to collect data to investigate other co-benefits of renovation such as the impact on health and wellbeing via changes in exposure at home as results of changes on indoor air quality as a result of the renovation work.
In ARDEN we will measure a number of air pollutants before the renovation work and at 12 months after the renovation work to determine any changes in the pollutant levels.
What pollutants will we measure in ARDEN?
Many of these pollutants are present in most people’s homes and are present in common everyday items such as perfumes, aftershave, cleaning products and many are generated by everyday tasks such as cleaning, hoovering and cooking. Materials used in the construction of our homes will also be sources of these pollutants.
