WELCOME TO THE ACCESS CENTRE

The Access Centre works to ensure the equal access and participation of students at University of Galway from groups that are traditionally regarded as under-represented in higher education. The Access Centre operates a student lifecycle model in delivering this support, which involves working with students and their parents/guardians at pre-entry, transition, post-entry and employment levels.

Through its Access and Foundation programmes, as well as Mature, FET, DARE and HEAR schemes, the Access Centre provides a number of alternative admissions entry routes for underrepresented students.

Through our primary schools programme UNI4U and secondary schools programme UNI4U+, we work with local schools and FET providers to break down barriers to progressing to higher education.

At a post-entry level, the Access Centre’s support services include and are not limited to; the Disability Support Service, our Post-Entry Support Team, Mature Students Officer and Support Worker for those with experience of the care system.

We also support students registered with the Access Centre with one-to-one placement planning meetings to identify reasonable accommodations required while on placement, in addition to engaging with employers to facilitate professional mentoring.
