March Leading Researcher and Clinician to Deliver NUI Galway Talk on Paediatric Feeding Problems in Children with Autism

Dr Keith Williams, a leading expert in the treatment of paediatric feeding problems in the US, will host a talk for parents on Wednesday, 27 March from 6-8pm in the School of Psychology, NUI Galway. Dr Williams is visiting NUI Galway as part of the Fulbright Specialist Program as a guest of The Applied Behaviour Research Clinic at NUI Galway.

In his talk entitled ‘Eating Problems in children with Autism: What they are and what to do!’ Dr Williams will focus on the eating problems common in children with autism, what they are, why they occur, and practical strategies that can be used to address some of these problems. 

Dr Williams has been the Director of the Penn State Children’s Hospital Feeding Program for 21 years where he works directly with families to support them with feeding problems. He is a Professor of Paediatrics at the Penn State College of Medicine and a licenced Psychologist. Dr Williams is widely published in the area of childhood feeding disorders and child nutrition. He is the author of numerous books including Broccoli Boot Camp and Treating Eating Problems of Children with Autism and Developmental Disabilities. As well as working with children with special needs and complex medical issues, also has expertise in developing school-based interventions.

Dr Helena Lydon, Co-Director of the Applied Behaviour Research Clinic at NUI Galway said: “We are delighted to have the internationally recognised expert Dr Williams give a public talk on eating problems for children with autism. His talk will be of interest to parents of children who are picky eaters and will also be of interest to clinicians who support families of children with autism.”
