Biography

Marcin J. Krasny received his M.Sc.Eng. degree in Electronics and Communication with specialisation in Microsystems from the Wroclaw University of Science and Technology (Poland) in 2012. After graduation, he worked as an R&D and test engineer in an electronic company near Berlin, Germany. He joined the Faculty of Engineering & Design at the University of Bath (UK) receiving PhD scholarship in the field of piezoelectric materials for energy harvesting applications.

In 2018, he moved to Ireland to work at the University of Galway (UoG), School of Physics, on the electrical characterisation of gels used for MRI phantoms. His research included the development of an electrical impedance tomography (EIT) hardware system. In September 2019, Marcin joined the Smart Sensors Lab (Schold of Medicine, UoG) team, working on an ablation assessment system for improved treatment of atrial fibrillation. In 2022, he joined the Translational Medical Device Lab at the Lambe Institute, School of Medicine, University of Galway, as a Research Fellow to conduct a project on cancer catheter ablation analysis using electrical impedance tomography.

His interests and experience include the development of medical electronic devices, including medical instrumentation, wearable devices, bio-sensors, signal conditioning and RF data transmission of bio-signals.
